Sometimes, we just need some Bach in our lives...

I'm more of a Chopin and Schubert kind of pianist. However a little Bach isn't bad every once in a while.

Clean playing, but too clinical for me. I've heard more emotion in MIDI files. But I'm a tough critic...

In that channel that guy plays a lot of Chopin, i saw the titles of all his videos. In fact i think he had more videos titled of Chopin than any other composer.

I completely agree! Bach's piano works by nature are really mechanical.

Yes, I think it's very cleany played, but with no emotion at all. It's a bit of personal taste though. Some people prefer a metronomic sound with fugues, since it highlights all the layers and interplay of the musical phrases. And traditionalists would point out that baroque music was played very straight, with little emotion at the time. Most music at the time was a tool, something to be played to serve a purpose like dance, or accompanying a religious service, not played just for it's own sake.

The idea that a musician should add his own musicality, through tools like rubato, volume, and emphasis didn't start until the Classical era, and even more so the Romatic and Modern eras. So this style of play is probably closer to how the T & F would have been played when it was written.

But I don't care about that cause I live now, not then. So a musician's personal musicality and performance are important to me.

Couldn't gave said it better myself. Its a product of the baroque style.
